Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • Patient, compassionate and confident in supporting individual needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Experience with Autism/ADHD/SEMH or complex learning needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with learning, development and engagement in lessons.

SEND Teaching Assistant - Waltham Forest

Location: Waltham Forest, East London

Role: SEND Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Ongoing, long-term

Pay: £90-£110 per day, depending on experience

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are currently looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Waltham Forest area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with relevant childcare, youth work or care experience who is looking to develop their career within education.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school's SEND team to provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development and engagement in lessons
  • Helping to manage behaviour and promote positive relationships
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development
  • Implementing individual learning and support strategies
  • Working alongside teachers and the SENCO to ensure pupils receive appropriate support
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and key life skills
  • Supporting a positive, inclusive and safe classroom environment

Previous experience with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex learning needs would be advantageous, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
