Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the L23 area, supporting pupils aged 11–16 with diverse needs including SEND, visual impairments, sensory needs and complex learning needs.

This role suits a new or experienced educator aiming to become a familiar, trusted presence within a school that values wellbeing, consistency and community, with APSCo compliant processes and a supportive consultancy.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working with complex needs is desirable but not essential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential).
• Ability to commit to full-time or part-time hours.
• Reliable, patient and confident within a specialist school environment.
• APSCo compliance & safer recruitment standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist with learning activities, communication development and sensory programmes.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff.
• Follow individual care plans and behaviour support strategies.
