Job summary

Milk Education, in partnership with a 5-19 SEND school in Cramlington, is seeking a SEND Support Assistant to work with teenagers with SEND in a specialist environment.

You will provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support, adapt learning activities to meet individual needs, and build positive relationships with students. You will collaborate with the SENDCo and staff to implement personalised strategies and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Solid numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach with ability to adapt to individual needs.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
  • Support young people with Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs of students.
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
  • Work with the SENDCo, teachers and staff to implement personalised learning strategies.
  • Promote a calm, safe, inclusive learning environment.
