Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in primary settings across Wigan and Warrington.

You will work 1:1 or small groups, assist learning activities tailored to individual needs, and help pupils develop independence under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs.

The role starts September/October 2026, is full-time, and requires a caring, patient, adaptable approach and strong communication skills.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Wigan & Warrington

Start Date: September/October 2026

Contract: Full-time

A number of primary schools across Wigan and Warrington are seeking compassionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs.

This role involves working closely with children who may have a range of needs including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, providing tailored support to help them thrive in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis


• Assisting with learning activities tailored to individual needs


• Encouraging independence and confidence


• Working closely with teachers and SENCOs

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience supporting children with SEND (school or care background)
