Job summary

SEND Inclusion Support are seeking caring SEND Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming Primary Schools across Wigan. You will support pupils with a range of SEND needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

The role includes 1:1 and small group support, working closely with teachers and other professionals, and helping to implement individual learning and behaviour plans.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience supporting SEND pupils in school, care, youth work or similar settings.
  • Patience, adaptability and resilience are essential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills are important.
  • Passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist children with a range of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Encourage positive relationships, engagement and independence.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking caring, patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming Primary Schools across Wigan

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • Have experience supporting SEND pupils in a school, care, youth work or similar setting
  • Are patient, adaptable and resilient
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
