Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a passionate SEND Teacher to join a specialist provision in Walton-on-Thames, starting in September. This role supports pupils with autism and varied needs in a Primary or Secondary setting.

You will teach small classes, adapt lessons to individual styles, and work with support staff and therapists to promote academic, social, emotional and personal development in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in a Primary or Secondary setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs.
  • Creative and flexible teaching approach with ability to adapt lessons to individual learning needs.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Compassionate, patient and resilient approach to teaching.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to pupil wellbeing.
  • Ability to assess and track pupil progress and adapt strategies.

TeacherActive is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a specialist provision in Walton-on-Thames, starting in September. This is an exciting opportunity for a Primary or Secondary Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference to pupils with autism and a range of varied and complex needs.

This role is ideal for a teacher who wants to spend less time focused on unnecessary paperwork and more time on what truly matters delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences that inspire every child to thrive.

As a SEND Teacher, you will teach small, focused classes and have the freedom and flexibility to adapt your teaching to each pupil's individual learning style, interests and needs. You will create engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage curiosity, confidence and positive participation while supporting pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development.

Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists and pastoral colleagues, you will take a holistic approach to each pupil's education. You will help pupils develop essential life skills, independence and ownership of their learning journey while creating a safe, respectful and positive classroom environment where every child feels valued.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching within a Primary or Secondary setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs, is highly desirable
  • A creative and flexible teaching approach with the ability to adapt lessons to individual learning needs
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • A compassionate, patient and resilient approach to teaching
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to prioritising pupil wellbeing
  • The ability to assess and track pupil progress effectively, adapting teaching strategies where required
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to celebrating every pupil's progress and achievements
