Job description

Overview

TeacherActive is proud to be working with multiple SEND schools in the Stockport area, supporting recruitment for SEN Teachers. The settings of these schools are centred on pupils' development, with an intrinsic desire to make progress academically and in their emotional, social and behavioural skills.

These schools are seeking a passionate team player to take on short-term and long-term roles, with potential for long-term placements for the right SEN Teacher. The successful SEN Teacher will bring a new dimension and skill set, be keen to develop their own skills to adapt to the children’s individual needs and have a positive impact on the wider school.

The position will involve working with students across all Key Stages with diagnoses of Autism/ASD, SLD/Severe Learning Difficulties, and challenging behaviours. A proactive thinker who can take control of situations confidently is necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Teach across all Key Stages to pupils with Autism/ASD and SLD, including those with challenging behaviours.
  • Deliver engaging, child-centred lessons and adapt teaching approaches to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support pupils’ academic and emotional development.
  • Use proactive behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
Qualifications
  • SEND teaching experience.
  • A good knowledge of the national curriculum.
  • The initiative, ability and desire to deliver fun and engaging lessons.
  • The ability to build good relationships with staff and pupils.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
