Job summary

Leicestershire County Council seeks a SENDIASS Officer for a 12-month maternity cover. Based at County Hall, you will empower families to understand rights under the SEND Code of Practice and provide impartial information, support and guidance.

The role requires Level 4 qualification with ISPEA training and in-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCPs and statutory rights, plus experience supporting families through meetings and tribunals. Flexible working may be discussed.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 qualification and ISPEA legal training or willingness to undertake.
  • Specialist knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and statutory rights for children, young people and families.
  • Experience providing impartial information, advice and guidance to families and young people.
  • Ability to support and represent families through meetings, reviews, mediation and tribunal processes.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working with schools, local authorities and partner agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and case recording.
  • Knowledge of SEN statutory responsibilities and SEN disability law.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and putting children at the centre of all practice.
