Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd in Burnley is seeking a caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school’s SEND Nurture Room from November 2027. This is a full-time, term-time-only role, with a long-term opportunity to support children with additional needs in a nurturing environment.

You will collaborate with teaching staff to deliver personalised support, help pupils develop learning, social and emotional skills, and contribute to an inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, ideally SEND or school setting.
• Patient and resilient, able to build strong relationships with pupils.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort with pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and speech or language difficulties.
• Qualifications desirable but not essential; transferable experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to pupils within a dedicated nurture and SEND provision.
• Build positive relationships that help children feel safe, valued and confident.
• Support pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
• Work with small groups and on a one-to-one basis as required.
• Implement individual support plans and learning strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Assist with classroom activities and tailored interventions.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEND staff.
