Job summary

The Supply Register, in partnership with Werneth Primary School in Oldham, is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Nurture Room. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted support for children with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them build confidence and positive learning behaviours.

Ideal candidates are patient, empathetic and able to create a calm, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
• Genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing.
• Qualifications or experience within education are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Support children with social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Assist in delivering intervention activities and nurture-based programmes.
• Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and valued.
• Work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and other professionals to support individual learning plans.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
• Help create a calm, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
