Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a Multi Trades Lead to support students aged 9–16, delivering a variety of trade skills on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

You will work with teachers and support staff to help students access learning, develop confidence, and engage positively with school life. Driving between sites around Totnes is required.

Qualifications

Job description

Do you have a passion for supporting students who struggle to access a curriculum in a mainstream school? Do you have a passion and experience of delivering multi-trades to students or adults? We are looking for a Multi Trades Lead to support students aged 9-16 on a 1:1 basis and small group basis, ensuring they are well supported and have access to a bespoke curriculum, tailored to their needs.

Key Information

• Salary ranges from £23,250-£38,756, depending on SEND experience and qualifications.
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 4:45pm
• Position: Permanent (Temp to perm option)
• Start Date: 7th September 2026

About the Role

• You will be delivering a variety of trade skills to students who are looking to obtain a work based placement, or apprenticeship, in a trade.
• Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and engage positively with school life.
• You must be able to drive, as part of your role will be commuting between sites in and around Totnes.
• You must have an enthusiasm for supporting students with complex needs, who may struggle to self-regulate.
• Teaching students with SEMH on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
• Helping to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment

About the School

• The school supports students aged 9–16 whose needs cannot be met in mainstream education.
• All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) related to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Previous experience with young people with SEND is not essential working . This role would suit graduates, youth workers, trades men and woman, , or anyone with a genuine interest in working with young people and delivering trade skills.
