Job description

Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm | £92.63 per day (£14.25 per hour equivalent) Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or support worker looking for a rewarding full‑time role? We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming SEND school in Newbury that supports children and young people of all ages, primarily with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with pupils to support their learning, independence, and emotional wellbeing, helping them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

The school offers a varied curriculum with plenty of outdoor learning opportunities, educational visits, and excursions, so you'll need to be comfortable spending much of the day on your feet and supporting pupils in a range of environments.

The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies, and assisting with personal care where required.

To be successful, you will have previous experience supporting children or adults with SEND, particularly those with ASD or complex needs.

You should be confident managing challenging behaviour with patience, empathy, and consistency, and be committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are preferred due to the location.

In return, you'll join a dedicated and supportive school team where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people every day.

If you have the relevant experience and are looking for a fulfilling SEND Teaching Assistant position in Newbury, we'd love to hear from you.

If you are interested, please contact Sam Higham on 0207 580 2956 | Ext: 1038 to apply.

If you are not interested but know someone else who might be, don't forget that we offer £50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such, you will be required to provide an up to date DBS, or be prepared to allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, in addition to other mandatory compliance checks in line with the DfE guidelines. If the position you are applying for involves working with children or vulnerable adults, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.

Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions. You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role. Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
