Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Level 3 SEND Learning Support Assistant to work in Wakefield-area primary schools on a temporary, part-time basis. The role involves 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including autism and ADHD, with a focus on enabling independent learning.

You will assist teachers, support EHCPs, and help create a safe, inclusive classroom. An enhanced DBS and proactive, patient approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• At least 6 months' experience in a primary school or SEND setting.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, including autism, ADHD, or learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support children with EHCPs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive and reliable Level 3 SEND Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
• Support children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Help to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Adapt to different school settings, routines and individual pupil requirements.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Have a minimum of 6 months' experience working in a primary school or SEND setting.
• Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Have experience supporting children with SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or additional communication needs.
• Be patient, adaptable and confident supporting pupils with a range of individual learning needs.
