Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a Southend-on-Sea school. The role involves one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional needs, across the full school day, five days a week.

You will assist the class teacher with differentiated activities, help pupils develop learning, communication and social skills, and support emotional regulation within a calm, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with additional needs.
• Experience in SEND, education, care or support roles.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Willingness to work across the school day, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated

SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide support to pupils throughout the school day, 5 days a week.

The successful SEND LSA will be responsible for:

• one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils with their
• learning, communication and engagement
• Assisting the class teacher with differentiated classroom activities
• Helping pupils develop their
• confidence, independence and social skills
• Supporting pupils with their
• emotional regulation and behaviour where required

• Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and other support staff

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with additional needs, ideally within
• SEND, education, care or support work
• A patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Confidence supporting pupils with a variety of individual needs
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved throughout the school day
• A genuine commitment to supporting pupils'
• learning, development and wellbeing
• Previous school experience is beneficial; however, candidates with experience in
• care, support work, healthcare, youth work or other transferable backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
