Overview

SEND is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role in Bristol starting September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine classroom teaching, strategic support, and one-to-one interaction with pupils with a variety of special educational needs in a forward-thinking school.

Location: Bristol. Start: September 2025. Salary: Competitive rates of pay.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored support across multiple classes
  • Assist in lesson planning and resource preparation
  • Lead sessions and supervise classes during teacher absence (max 8 pupils)
  • Support behaviour strategies and school-wide SEN initiatives
  • Work with the leadership team to drive pupil progress and wellbeing
Qualifications
  • Experience supporting students with complex SEN and behavioural needs
  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent Level 3 + experience)
  • Confident communicator, team player, and highly organised
  • Understanding of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECs, Makaton)
  • Comfortable leading small groups and delivering planned activities
