Job summary

Bright Star Talent is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Erdington, Birmingham, for an experienced SENCO to join on a permanent basis. This is an urgent appointment with interviews arranged ASAP. The role blends SENCO leadership with ongoing teaching responsibilities to support pupils with additional needs.

The ideal candidate holds QTS and has SEN/SEND leadership experience, with NASENCO or NPQ for SENCO preferred. DBS checks and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading SEND provision across a school.
• Ability to review and coordinate EHCPs to secure outcomes.
• Confident in balancing SENCO leadership with teaching duties.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee SEND provision across the school.
• Coordinate and review EHCPs, ensuring appropriate support and outcomes are in place.
• Work closely with senior leadership, teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and ensure interventions and support strategies are effective.
• Support and guide staff with SEND strategies, differentiation and inclusive practice.
• Ensure SEND provision meets statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Undertake teaching responsibilities, including planning, delivering and assessing lessons.
• Adapt teaching to meet pupils' individual needs.
• Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
