Job summary

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has substantial teaching experience and experience working with children with a range of SEND.
• Has a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
• Has experience of leading and developing provision across a school.
• Can provide professional support and guidance to colleagues, parents and external agencies.
• Is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for all pupils.
• Has excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Holds the National Professional Qualification for SENCOs or is willing to complete it within three years of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development of SEND provision throughout the school.
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy.
• Coordinate support for pupils with SEND and monitor its impact.
• Work closely with families, staff, governors and external agencies.
• Be a key member of the school's leadership team.
• Lead and develop staff to ensure high-quality provision for all learners.
• Support safeguarding and inclusion for pupils with additional needs.
