Job summary

Bright Star Talent is recruiting for a permanent SENCO role at a specialist SEN school in Erdington, Birmingham. The role combines leadership of SEND provision with hands-on teaching responsibilities to support pupils with additional needs.

Holders of QTS with strong SEN/SEND experience and SENCO leadership are encouraged to apply. DBS and safeguarding checks are part of the compliance process, with interviews arranged swiftly.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS and strong SEN/SEND experience.
• Experience leading SEND provision and coordinating EHCPs.
• Knowledge of EHCPs, SEND legislation and SEND Code of Practice.
• Able to balance SENCO leadership with teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee SEND provision across the school.
• Coordinate and review EHCPs, ensuring appropriate support and outcomes.
• Work with senior leadership, teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and ensure interventions are effective.
• Support and guide staff with SEND strategies and inclusive practice.
• Ensure SEND provision meets statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Undertake teaching responsibilities, including planning, delivering and assessing lessons.
• Adapt teaching to meet pupils' individual needs.
• Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
