  • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience liaising with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision and interventions.
  • Oversee EHCPs: implementation, monitoring and reviews.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop inclusive teaching practices.
  • Provide guidance and training on SEND strategies to staff.
  • Coordinate annual reviews, referrals and external agency communication.
  • Monitor progress of SEND pupils and ensure outcome-focused plans.
  • Build relationships with parents and professionals for collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement for an inclusive culture.
  • Manage and deploy SEND resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision, ensuring all pupils receive appropriate support and intervention.
  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop inclusive teaching practices and effective interventions.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff regarding SEND strategies and best practice.
  • Coordinate annual reviews, assessments, referrals, and communication with external agencies.
  • Monitor the progress of pupils with SEND and ensure support plans are effective and outcome-focused.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to pupil support.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives, promoting an inclusive culture across the school.
  • Manage and deploy SEND resources effectively to maximise pupil outcomes.
Candidate Profile
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualification, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Previous experience working within a SENCO or SEND leadership role.
  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience liaising with parents, carers, local authorities, and external professionals.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support colleagues in delivering high-quality SEND provision.
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide professional references.
