Job summary

Sprint Education Recruitment is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Lichfield, starting September 2026. You will provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional learning needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to enable curriculum access, independence, and progress throughout the day.

The role offers ongoing development opportunities with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate, subject to school

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs is beneficial but not essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach from the candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning activities.
• Modify classroom resources and activities to encourage participation and engagement.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, communication and independence.
• Support the pupil's emotional wellbeing while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, carers and external professionals to support development.
• Observe, monitor and record progress, sharing updates with staff.
