Job summary

Sprint Education Recruitment is recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant in a mainstream primary school in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on providing dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with SEND within the classroom, closely collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to help the child access the curriculum and participate fully.

You will support social, emotional, and academic development throughout the school day, promote independence and adapt activities to individual needs,

Qualifications

  • Passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Reliable, professional and committed attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities tailored to the child's needs.
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to maximise engagement and accessibility.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, communication and social interaction.
  • Support the child's emotional wellbeing in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, carers and external professionals to support progress.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
