Overview

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Cannock. This is a full time position starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027, with the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the successful candidate.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional educational needs within the classroom. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will help the pupil access the curriculum, encourage independence, and support their academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consistent one to one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
• Adapt classroom resources and activities to maximise engagement and accessibility.
• Promote positive behaviour, communication, independence, and social interaction.
• Support the pupil's emotional wellbeing while helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, carers, and external professionals to support the pupil's ongoing progress.
• Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO where appropriate.
