Job summary

Protocol Education in Halifax is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in local schools. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to help students access lessons and build confidence.

A patient, empathetic approach and strong communication are essential. Qualifications are beneficial but not required, with full training and ongoing development offered.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools across Halifax.


This rewarding role involves working closely with students who require additional support, helping them achieve both academically and socially within a positive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.

  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs).

  • Support students with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.

  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.

  • Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.


Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
