Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (EYFS / KS1) - Adهِh & Long-Term Roles

Location: Gateshead

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (Monday‑Friday, term time)

About the Role

We are an education recruitment agency working in partnership with SEN schools across North East, and we are currently recruiting EYFS / KS1 SEN Teaching Assistants for both ad‑hoc (supply) and long‑term roles. You will be supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs within specialist SEN school settings, helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support children with learning, communication, and emotional needs
  • Assist with personal care where required
  • Implement behaviour and support strategies set by the school
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff
Requirements
  • Experience working with children in EYFS and/or KS1
  • Previous experience in SEN schools or specialist settings (preferred)
  • Experience supporting needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH (desirable)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through the agency)
