Job summary

South Ascot Village School is seeking a caring and patient Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEN Unit, supporting autistic children and pupils with complex needs. You will work with teachers and professionals to tailor high-quality support to individual learners.

You will help pupils access learning, develop independence and thrive academically and socially, fostering a safe, inclusive environment and positive relationships across the school community.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in school or similar setting.
• Ability to support autistic pupils and those with complex needs.
• Willingness to learn about autism and SEND.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism and additional needs within the SEN Unit.
• Adapt learning activities and resources for individual needs.
• Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Supervise pupils during lunchtime and breaktimes to ensure safety.
• Provide personal care and medical support where required with training.
