Job summary

South Ascot Village School is seeking a caring and patient Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEN Unit, supporting autistic children and pupils with complex needs. You will work with teachers and professionals to tailor high-quality support to individual learners.

You will help pupils access learning, develop independence and thrive academically and socially, fostering a safe, inclusive environment and positive relationships across the school community.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism and additional needs within the SEN Unit.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant within our SEN Unit, you will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and achieve success both academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide high-quality support tailored to individual needs.

The role includes:

• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs within our specialist provision.


• Assisting with learning activities and adapting resources to help children access the curriculum.


• Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.


• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.


• Supervising pupils during lunchtime and breaktimes to ensure a safe and positive environment.


• Providing personal care and medical support where required, with appropriate training and guidance.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Enjoys working with children and is passionate about helping them succeed.


• Has experience working with children in a school or similar environment.


• Is patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.


• Is willing to learn and develop specialist knowledge of autism and SEND.


• Can remain calm, positive and resilient when supporting children with additional needs.


• Shares our commitment to inclusion and ensuring every child receives the support they need to flourish.
