Job summary

Engage Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Rochdale. You will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, working closely with the class teacher and support team.

The successful candidate will have experience with SEN, challenging behaviour, autism or complex needs, and be patient, proactive and committed to safeguarding while helping pupils develop independence and succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, autism or complex needs.
• Patient, resilient and compassionate.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive and able to use own initiative.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
• Help implement individual learning and support plans.
• Work alongside teachers and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop independence.
• Assist with classroom activities and create an inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
