Job summary

Randstad Education in Godalming is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a specialist school. You will work 1:1 and in small groups with students who have SEN and complex needs, supporting learning and behaviour in a safe, caring environment.

The role is full-time during term time, 08:30–16:15, Monday to Friday, and offers CPD opportunities. The successful candidate will be compassionate, energetic and committed to making a difference in young people's lives.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• GCSEs in Maths and English - pass grade.
• Clear written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to motivate children.
• Willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver 1:1 and small group support to develop social and friendship skills or assist the teacher in whole class delivery.
• Support and encourage the behaviour and emotional development of students.
• Liaise with teachers and other staff about needs and progress of students.
• Promote welfare and safeguarding of young people at all times.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary and supportive team with all staff across the school.
• Ensure Education, Health and Care Plans are used to set specific targets for students.
• Guide and mentor students so that targeted, measurable improvement is achieved.
• Work with SENCO to ensure regular communication between home and school to involve parents.
