Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is recruiting an ASD Teaching Assistant for a specialist provision in Pontypridd. The role is full-time, temporary ongoing, with an immediate start and daily pay between £92 and £95.

You will support pupils with autism/ASD and challenging behaviour, working closely with teaching staff to maintain a structured learning environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, clear communication, and a proactive approach to helping learners aged 11 to 19 develop

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist provision based in Pontypridd, supporting young people aged 11 to 19 with autism / ASD, additional learning needs (ALN) and challenging behaviour. The provision focuses on providing a supportive and structured learning environment where pupils can develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

The school is looking to appoint a confident and outgoing ASD Teaching Assistant on a full-time, temporary ongoing basis, with an immediate start available. The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will support pupils with their learning, manage challenging behaviour and work closely with teaching staff to provide consistent support, demonstrating a strong-willed, resilient approach while maintaining positive relationships with pupils.

The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will have:

• Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance, Childcare or ALN are desirable but not essential
• Experience supporting children or young people with autism / ASD, ALN or challenging behaviour is desirable
• A confident, outgoing and strong-willed personality, with the ability to remain calm and assertive in challenging situations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to establish clear boundaries with pupils
• A patient, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people with complex needs
• A positive 'can-do' attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
