Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist ALN school in Ebbw Vale to recruit an ASD Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term supply position starting immediately. You will support pupils with autism and behavioural needs, delivering sensory-based activities and encouraging early learning through classroom and outdoor learning.

The successful candidate will have a TA qualification or ALN training, plus ASD experience, and a patient, resilient, caring approach with strong communication

Qualifications

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or ALN training.
• Experience supporting children and young people with ASD and behavioural needs.
• Experience in a specialist ALN setting or supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Understanding of positive behaviour management, sensory learning and early childhood development.

Salary: £92 - £95 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist ALN school based in Ebbw Vale, supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs. The school focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, using sensory activities, early learning development and outdoor learning opportunities to encourage engagement, confidence and independence.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term supply basis, starting immediately. The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will support pupils with autism and behavioural needs, helping to manage challenging behaviours positively, deliver sensory-based activities and encourage early learning development through structured classroom support and outdoor learning experiences.

The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or training in Additional Learning Needs / ALN (desirable)
• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD and behavioural needs
• Experience working within a specialist ALN setting or supporting pupils with additional learning needs
• An understanding of positive behaviour management strategies, sensory learning and early childhood development
• The ability to support pupils across a wide age range, adapting activities to individual learning and developmental needs
• A patient, resilient and caring approach with strong communication skills and a willingness to engage in outdoor learning
