Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 with challenging behaviour and complex ALN needs at a specialist school in Rhondda Cynon Taf. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement behaviour management plans and deliver practical life skills activities, fostering independence and safe learning.

Ideally you hold a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification or relevant ALN experience.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience supporting pupils with ALN
• Previous experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and complex additional learning needs
• Experience using positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
• An understanding of supporting pupils with emotional regulation, life skills and independent living skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach with strong classroom management skills

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with challenging behaviour and complex additional learning needs?

Do you have experience managing challenging behaviour and creating a positive, structured learning environment?

Are you a patient, resilient and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can support young people in developing essential life skills and independent living skills?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist ALN school based in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT), supporting young people aged 11 to 16 with behavioural difficulties and complex additional learning needs. The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment, with a strong focus on developing essential life skills, promoting independence and helping pupils build the confidence needed for everyday living.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term temporary basis, with an immediate start. The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs, assisting with behaviour management, emotional regulation, practical life skills activities and independent living skills whilst maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience supporting pupils with ALN
• Previous experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and complex additional learning needs
• Experience using positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
• An understanding of supporting pupils with emotional regulation, life skills and independent living skills
