Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant Leicester, Consistent Long-Term School Work

The same familiar face, in the same part of the classroom, every morning. For many students with SEN, that predictability is what makes the rest of the day workable. It's also the thing short-term cover can never quite provide.

Sprint Education Recruitment works with mainstream and specialist settings across Leicester, placing SEN Teaching Assistants into long-term roles. Are you looking for a long-term placement supporting students with SEN and complex needs, across primary, secondary and alternative provision?

We work across Leicester and the surrounding towns, so whether you're in the city, Loughborough, Hinckley or Wigston, it's worth showing your interest.

What SEN Teaching Assistant work involves
  • Supporting the same students consistently, often across a full term or academic year
  • Working 1:1 and with small groups, in class and in quieter spaces
  • Putting agreed communication, learning and regulation strategies into practice
  • Helping students with routines and the transitions they find less comfortable
  • Keeping teaching staff and the SENCO informed about what you're noticing
  • Adapting to how each setting works, since every school runs things a little differently
What we're looking for
  • Experience supporting children or young people, in schools, care, youth work or volunteering
  • A degree or ongoing study in Psychology, Education or a related subject is welcome, though not essential alongside relevant experience
  • Interest in the needs you're likely to meet, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language
  • Patience that holds up across weeks and terms, not just individual moments
  • Reliability. Turning up consistently carries real weight in this work
  • Availability for full-time, long-term or permanent work
  • You'll need the right to work in the UK
What we offer

Weekly PAYE pay. A named consultant who'll give you a clear picture of a setting before you start, including the parts that are demanding. Access to SEN and behaviour training as you go. Placements built around continuity rather than one-off cover.

Why Sprint?

If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role as an SEN Teaching Assistant, where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.

Sprint Education Recruitment is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
