Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow from September. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism (ASD), helping them access learning and build confidence within the classroom.

The school has a strong SEND provision and a supportive leadership team committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) in a primary school setting.
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton or sensory approaches is desirable.
  • Committed to a full-time, long-term role from September.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism within a KS1 classroom.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Use visual timetables, structured routines and communication strategies to promote engagement.
  • Support emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals to implement tailored support plans.
  • Record progress and contribute to pupil reviews and planning meetings.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

£110-£120 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow from September.

This rewarding role involves providing dedicated support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism (ASD), helping them access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence within the classroom. The school has a strong SEND provision and a supportive leadership team committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs.

About the Role
As a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
