Job summary

The Teach Team are seeking compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist college supporting 16-25 year olds with a range of additional learning needs. You will help students develop independence, confidence, communication skills, and life skills to prepare for adulthood in a safe, nurturing environment.

Job description

The Teach Team are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist college supporting young people aged 16-25 with a range of additional learning needs.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will support students to develop their independence, confidence, communication skills, and life skills, helping them prepare for adulthood in a safe and nurturing environment.

Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will play a key role in ensuring every student receives the individualised support they need to achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and complex needs.
  • Support students with classroom activities, vocational learning, and the development of independent living skills.
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist students with mobility and physical support where required.
  • Provide personal care, including support with toileting, changing, feeding, and maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring each student's dignity, privacy, and wellbeing are always respected.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning and care plans.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with young people or adults with special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Confidence in providing, or willingness to learn, personal care support.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine passion for helping young people achieve greater independence.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
