Job summary

Teach is seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in primary, secondary and specialist education settings. Opportunities span day-to-day, short-term, long-term and permanent placements, with roles across mainstream and specialist provisions.

Typical hours are school-based (8:15am–3:30pm) Monday to Friday, with competitive pay and flexible work to suit availability.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A patient, caring and positive approach in a classroom environment.
  • A flexible and professional attitude with safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other SEND requirements.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour; adapt resources to meet needs.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work or your next long-term opportunity?

Teach is currently recruiting caring, enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in primary, secondary and specialist education settings.

We have opportunities available on a day-to-day, short-term, long-term and permanent basis, supporting pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language needs and other learning difficulties.

Whether you're an experienced SEN TA or have relevant transferable experience, we'll work with you to find a role that matches your skills, experience and availability.

Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday
  • Typical school hours: 8:15am – 3:30pm (may vary by school)

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with additional needs
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other SEND requirements
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers
  • Follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all safeguarding procedures
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school or similar setting
  • A patient, caring and positive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A flexible and professional attitude
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or Speech & Language needs
  • Experience within mainstream or specialist education settings
Salary

Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience, qualifications and the responsibilities of each role.
