Job summary

Philosophy Education is seeking a patient, caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a local primary school. The role involves 1:1 support, helping access learning, and promoting communication and social development in a supportive setting.

The ideal candidate is adaptable and dedicated, with experience in SEND being advantageous but not essential, and a genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.

Qualifications

  • Caring and patient approach to supporting children with SEN.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
  • Assist pupils to access learning and participate in activities.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
  • Assist with transitions and changes in routine.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families.
  • Provide personal care support where required.

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs in a Primary School setting?

We are looking for caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs within local primary schools. These roles are ideal for experienced SEN professionals, recent graduates or individuals looking to begin a rewarding career in SEND.

The Role

You will provide personalised 1:1 support to an individual pupil, helping them access learning, develop independence, build confidence and reach their full potential.

You may support pupils with:

  • Autism SpectrumCondition (ASC)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Complex needs
  • Hearing or visual impairment
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Helping pupils access learning and activities.
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development.
  • Supporting transitions and changes in routine.
  • Adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families.
  • Providing personal care support where required.
The Ideal Candidate

You will be patient, caring, reliable and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Previous experience in SEND, education, care, youth work, psychology or similar environments is desirable but not essential for every role.
