SEN Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment in Whitstable is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support specialist SEN schools across Ashford, Kent.

We are working with a number of specialist provisions supporting children and young people aged 4 to 19 with profound, severe and complex learning needs. These rewarding roles offer the opportunity to make a real difference by helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills and achieve greater independence in a safe and supportive environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:

• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Complex communication, sensory and medical needs
• Physical disabilities requiring specialist support

Your role may include supporting pupils in the classroom, during therapy sessions, sensory activities, outdoor learning and life skills lessons. Some positions may involve assisting with personal care and mobility, depending on individual pupil needs.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Previous experience is welcomed but not essential. We would particularly like to hear from candidates with backgrounds in:

• Care and support work
• Healthcare
• Residential care
• Youth work
• Mental health support
• Childcare or nursery settings
• Sports coaching
• Psychology or Education graduates
• Teaching Assistants looking to develop their SEN experience

The most important qualities are empathy, resilience, a willingness to learn and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
