Job summary

Academics are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs in specialist settings around Folkestone. You could work 1:1 with individuals, in small groups or alongside the class teacher, helping pupils engage with learning and develop personally and academically.

We welcome applicants with SEN experience or transferable skills from childcare, education, care work or mentoring. An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required; starts available immediately or

SEN Teaching Assistant

Academics are working with a variety of specialist and SEN settings, offering opportunities to support pupils with a wide range of needs, including ASC, SEMH, ADHD, communication and interaction needs and complex learning difficulties. Whether you already have SEN experience or are looking to take your first step into specialist education, we want to hear from you.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to help pupils engage with their learning and develop both academically and personally. Depending on the setting, you could be working 1:1 with individual pupils, supporting small groups or assisting within the classroom alongside the class teacher.

The successful candidate will be someone who is understanding, reliable and patient, with the ability to remain calm and supportive when faced with challenging situations. Building trusting relationships is a huge part of the role, so we're looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with young people and are committed to helping them succeed.

Previous SEN experience is desirable, but we're also interested in candidates who have gained relevant transferable skills through childcare, education, care work, youth work, mentoring, sports or other people-focused roles.
