Job summary

Five Education is seeking a committed SEN Teacher to join a specialist KS3 class of pupils with PMLD in Bristol. You will deliver engaging, individualised learning within a well-resourced setting that prioritises personalised learning, communication, and holistic development.

You will lead a team with Teaching Assistants, manage EHCP targets, and work with therapists and families to support sensory and communication needs.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience with SEN pupils, ideally within a specialist or inclusive setting.
  • Ability to deliver creative, flexible and differentiated teaching approaches for PMLD.

Responsibilities

SEN Teacher - KS3 (PMLD)

Five Education is working with a specialist SEN provision in Bristol to recruit a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to work with a KS3 class of pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

Responsibilities

As the class teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, individualised learning experiences tailored to students with complex needs. This will include:

  • Planning and delivering adapted lessons to meet the needs of pupils with PMLD
  • Leading a classroom supported by Teaching Assistants and support staff
  • Managing EHCP targets, progress tracking, and communication plans
  • Supporting pupils' sensory, physical, and communication needs
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment
  • Completing marking, assessment, and planning responsibilities in line with a paid-to-scale role
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, SENCOs, and families
About You
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEN pupils, ideally within a specialist or inclusive setting
  • A strong understanding of, or interest in, supporting children with PMLD
  • Ability to deliver creative, flexible, and differentiated teaching approaches
  • Strong teamwork and classroom leadership skills
  • Applicants without a formal SEN specialism will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant SEN experience and a passion for inclusive education

Essential Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one*
  • Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
