Job summary

Norton College in Tewkesbury, part of Outcomes First Group and Acorn Education, seeks a dedicated SEN Teacher to deliver personalised teaching for pupils aged 11-19 with SEMH, autism and complex needs.

You will plan tailored lessons, adapt approaches, monitor progress and collaborate closely with families and professionals to help each pupil reach their potential in a nurturing, relationship-led environment.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent is required.
  • A relevant degree is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons meeting individual needs.
  • Adapt teaching to support pupils with SEN, including Autism and complex needs.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress; celebrate learning.
  • Develop and review IEPs and behaviour support plans.
  • Create a safe, structured, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with families and external professionals for best outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Planning and delivering engaging, tailored lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to support pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.
  • Monitoring, assessing and celebrating pupil progress, ensuring every learner reaches their potential.
  • Developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Creating a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel valued and supported.
  • Working closely with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
    Qualified with QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree required.
  • Passionate about SEND education and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Experienced in supporting children and young people with additional needs, including Autism and complex learning profiles.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
  • Creative and adaptable, able to tailor learning to suit individual strengths and needs.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Norton College is a specialist school with in Tewkesbury, supporting young people aged 11-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism and complex learning needs.
