Job summary

Norton College in Tewkesbury is seeking compassionate Teaching Assistants to join its specialist team. You will support learning in classrooms, work with therapists and pastoral teams, and help pupils aged 11-19 with SEMH, autism and complex learning needs to build confidence and achieve goals.

As part of Outcomes First Group, you’ll contribute to a nurturing, relationship-led approach that helps pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally while safeguarding and promoting welfare.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with pupils with diverse needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Help learners engage with tasks and work toward individual goals.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviours.
  • Build trusting relationships so pupils feel safe and supported.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families and other professionals to meet needs.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
  • Demonstrate passion for assisting children and young people with SEND.
  • Be adaptable, a good communicator and effective in a team setting.
  • Strive to help pupils progress academically, emotionally and socially.

Previous experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs would be beneficial, although we also welcome applications from people with transferable skills and the right attitude.
