Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND or commitment to specialist education.
  • Ability to create inclusive learning environments for diverse needs.
  • Ability to deliver differentiated lessons for a range of learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes and targets.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and resources to ensure access for every pupil.
  • Monitor progress and use evidence to inform future teaching.
  • Create nurturing, structured learning environments that promote independence.
  • Support social, emotional and behavioural development using positive approaches.
  • Collaborate with therapists, staff, families and external professionals.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, progress meetings and pupil reports.
  • Engage in wider school life, enrichment activities and events.

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary: Up to £48,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

As an SEN Teacher, you'll deliver engaging, inclusive and ambitious learning tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEND. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, you'll create a safe and positive learning environment where every achievement is celebrated and every pupil is supported to reach their potential.

You'll build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues, helping young people develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for life beyond school.

What You’ll Do:
  • Planning and delivering personalised lessons that meet pupils’ individual learning needs, EHCP outcomes and developmental targets.
  • Adapting teaching approaches, resources and communication methods to ensure every pupil can access learning successfully.
  • Monitoring and assessing progress, using evidence to inform future teaching and celebrate achievement.
  • Creating nurturing, structured and engaging learning environments that promote confidence and independence.
  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development through positive and relational approaches.
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, support staff, families and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Contributing to annual reviews, progress meetings and pupil reports.
  • Playing an active role in the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, educational visits and school events.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification required.
  • Have experience teaching children and young people with SEND, or can demonstrate a strong commitment to specialist education.
  • Understand the importance of creating inclusive learning environments where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Can deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to a wide range of learning needs.
  • Are skilled in building positive relationships and supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Baston House School is an independent day specialist school in Bromley, Kent, supporting children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and associated needs.
