Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a Resource Base in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. You will support a small group of pupils with complex needs under the guidance of the class teacher and specialist staff.

The ideal candidate has a Level 3 Early Years qualification, First Aid certification, and experience in Early Years/SEN, with a calm, patient approach and strong teamwork. An early finish every Friday at 12:30pm is offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN, especially Autism and complex needs.
  • Experience supporting children with personal care requirements.
  • Experience in Early Years settings is preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to support pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Support a small group of pupils within the school's Resource Base.
  • Work with the class teacher and specialists to deliver personalized learning.
  • Provide tailored support to help pupils reach learning goals.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Resource Base

Balsall Heath, Birmingham | Full-Time | Monday to Friday.

Full-time, Monday to Friday with early finish at 12:30pm every Friday.

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Balsall Heath for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEN hub. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly supportive team, making a meaningful difference to the lives of children with complex learning needs.

Responsibilities
  • Support a small group of pupils within the school's Resource Base.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and specialist staff to deliver engaging, personalized learning.
  • Provide tailored support to help pupils achieve their individual learning and developmental goals.
  • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring pupils are supported with dignity and respect.
Children Supported
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Non-verbal Autism
  • Complex needs
Ideal Candidate
  • A Level 3 Early Years qualification (essential).
  • A valid Paediatric or Emergency First Aid qualification.
  • Experience working within an Early Years setting.
  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism and complex needs.
  • Confidence supporting children with personal care requirements.
  • A calm, nurturing, and patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
