Job summary

Smile Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis at a Catholic primary school in Wednesfield, West Midlands. You will use communication tools and work with the school to promote inclusion and progress.

The role is term-time only with 8:30am–3:30pm hours, immediate or September start, and a daily rate of £90–£120 with SEN allowance. Full-time and part-time applications considered; you'll join a supportive team and have ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• SEN/SEMH experience required.
• 1:1 support experience with a Year 1 pupil.
• Experience with communication tools and personal care.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to a pupil with additional learning needs.
• Support pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and non-verbal communication.
• Deliver interventions and adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to maximise pupil progress.

We are looking for a rare individual with a vareity of SEN/SEMH experience to work 1:1 with a child in Year 1. You'll be confident in utilising communication tools and have experience with personal care and be intensive interaction trained. The school is a wonderful catholic primary school with a welcoming enviornment who will support you every step of the way.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Providing tailored support to pupils with additional learning needs
• Supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and non-verbal communication needs
• Delivering interventions and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
• Encouraging confidence, independence and positive engagement in learning
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to ensure every child reaches their potential

We're Looking For:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Previous experience working with children within a UK Primary School
• Experience supporting a Reception class
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD or non-verbal children (highly desirable)
• A patient, resilient and caring approach
• A genuine passion for helping children succeed
