Job summary

Supply Heroes is recruiting an SEN Support Worker for a welcoming secondary school in Perry Barr, Birmingham, to support students with SEND in the Resource Base from September 2026. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, help pupils access learning inside the Resource Base and in mainstream lessons, and foster positive behaviour, confidence and independence.

There is a development pathway, including a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, with training and a supportive SEND

Qualifications

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience in a Resource Base, specialist provision, or secondary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support SEND students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

A welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Perry Barr, Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Support Worker - Resource Base to join their specialist SEND team from the start of the new academic year in September 2026.

This is a full-time, long-term position supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within the school's Resource Base provision. For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to become permanent.

The Role

As an SEN Support Worker within the Resource Base, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, helping them to engage with learning, develop independence, and flourish both academically and socially.

  • Support students with SEND on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Help pupils access learning both within the Resource Base and mainstream lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  • Support students with their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Ideally has experience within a Resource Base, specialist provision, or secondary school setting.
  • Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is adaptable, patient, resilient, and highly motivated.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Demonstrates strong literacy and numeracy skills.
