Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a qualified SEND Teacher to join its specialist resource base in Aston, Birmingham, from September. You will teach a small class of pupils with Autism, ASC, and complex needs, in a structured, nurturing environment, with experienced support staff and SEN leadership.

Salary is paid to scale (MPS/UPS) + SEN Allowance, with a long-term temporary contract that could lead to permanent appointment. Term-time only days, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
  • Experience supporting or teaching pupils with SEND in mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive practice.
  • Patient, compassionate and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a school team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver highly individualised learning programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes.
  • Differentiate teaching, resources and activities to meet diverse needs.
  • Promote communication development, independence skills and positive behaviour for learning.
  • Take a lead role within the classroom, coordinating with teaching assistants in the base.
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate pupil progress to inform next steps.

Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Contract: Long-term Temporary with Potential for Permanent Appointment

A supportive primary school in Aston is looking for a qualified SEND Teacher to join its established specialist resource base from September.

You will take responsibility for a small class of pupils with additional and complex needs, including Autism (ASC), communication needs and learning difficulties. With experienced support staff alongside you, you will create a structured, nurturing classroom where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver highly individualised learning programmes aligned with pupils' EHCP outcomes.
  • Differentiate teaching, resources and learning activities to meet a wide range of individual needs.
  • Promote communication development, independence skills and positive behaviour for learning.
  • Take a lead role within the classroom, working closely and effectively with teaching assistants in the resource base.
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate pupil progress, using outcomes to inform next steps in learning.
  • Work in close partnership with parents/carers, SEN colleagues and external agencies to support holistic pupil development.
