Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Birmingham is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to join the resource base of a welcoming mainstream primary school from 1st September 2026. You will lead a small specialist class of 5 pupils with complex needs, supported by three Teaching Assistants to enable personalised learning.

The role requires QTS, prior SEN experience, and the ability to plan, assess, and adapt lessons while collaborating with the SENCO and school staff to secure the best outcomes.

Location: Birmingham
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Full Academic Year)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join the resource base of a welcoming mainstream primary school from 1st September.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small specialist class of 5 pupils with complex additional needs, with plans for the provision to expand over the coming terms. You will be supported by three experienced Teaching Assistants, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality, personalised learning while working collaboratively to meet each child's individual needs.

Some pupils require personal care, so previous experience supporting children with complex needs and personal care requirements is essential.

The Role
  • Lead teaching and learning within the school's specialist resource base.
  • Plan, deliver and adapt engaging lessons to meet a range of complex SEN needs.
  • Complete planning, assessment and marking in line with school expectations.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO and wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive and structured learning environment that enables every child to thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has previous experience teaching children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Has experience leading an SEN class, including planning, assessment and marking.
  • Is confident supporting pupils with complex needs and personal care requirements.
  • Can commit to the role for the full academic year.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and making a lasting difference to children's lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
