Job summary

Astro Education Ltd are supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester to recruit a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. You will support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them engage in learning within small classes.

Working closely with teachers and the school team, you will provide 1:1 and group support, encourage positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can grow academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education or care settings.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach to support learners.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in small SEN/SEMH classes.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support as needed.
• Help pupils engage with classroom activities and learning.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and the wider school team.
• Encourage positive behaviour and resilience in learners.
• Assist with classroom routines in a safe, structured environment.
