Job summary

Astro Education Ltd are supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester to recruit a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. You will support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them engage in learning within small classes.

Working closely with teachers and the school team, you will provide 1:1 and group support, encourage positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can grow academically and socially.

Astro Education are currently supporting a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester that is looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and provides a structured and nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide pupils with the encouragement and assistance they need to engage positively with education.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils within small SEN/SEMH classes.

• Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience within an SEN, SEMH, education, youth work or care setting is desirable.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• The resilience and confidence to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people succeed.

Transferable experience will be considered, particularly from youth work, care, sports coaching, residential settings or other roles supporting young people.
