Job summary

Astro Education Ltd supports a SEN/SEMH school in South Manchester recruiting a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. You’ll work in small classes, provide 1:1 and group support, and help pupils engage with learning in a structured, caring environment.

Working with teachers and the school team, you’ll foster positive behaviours, build trust with pupils, and support their social, emotional and educational development with patience and resilience.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification required.
• Experience with children or young people is preferred.
• Experience in SEN/SEMH or related settings is desirable.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach with resilience to challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within small SEN/SEMH classes.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support when required.
• Help pupils engage with classroom activities and learning.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Encourage positive attitudes toward learning.
• Support routines and maintain a safe, structured environment.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team.
• Assist pupils to overcome barriers to learning and reach potential.
